Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire had been seeking $1.1 million for development, but has already breeched the $2 million mark with 22 days left in its Fig fund drive. It started off great as well, gathering more than $100,000 in the first hour.
“The level of fan support that has been shown for Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire has been incredible. We are seeing more and more support every day with no sight of it slowing down,” Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart said in a statement. “But with this level of amazing fan support comes great responsibility and we are going to make Deadfire the best fan-funded video game ever. That is our goal.”
The next stretch goal is set at $2.2 million, which will add Italian localization, customizable UI and watercolor NPC portraits. At $2,4 million, Korean localizaton and more recorded voice overs would be added.
The game is set to continue the player experience through the world of Eora, this time taking characters to the Deadfire Archipelago where they will hunt down a god that wants to take their souls.
